JASA LEAP is an elder abuse prevention and intervention project consisting of attorney and social worker teams working with abused individuals and their families. LEAP assists older persons who are victims of physical, mental and financial abuse by providing comprehensive legal and social work services including: case management services, individual, family, and group counseling, assistance with entitlements, accessing safe temporary shelter and transportation. It provides legal representation to obtain orders of protection and assists older persons to recover property in cases of fraud and financial abuse.
The LEAP teams conduct trainings and consultations to professional and community groups throughout the New York area.
The LEAP project services residents residing in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan (below 59th Street) who are 60 and over.
