Organization Description

The Queens District Attorney’s Elder Abuse Project was established in 1994 and is staffed by NY State licensed social workers. The Elder Abuse Project works with Queens seniors who have been the victims of abuse, neglect or criminal activity, and helps them get the support and services necessary to restore their safety, health and quality of life. Elderly abuse/crime victims are offered counseling – in their homes or in the program’s office, assistance navigating the criminal justice and court systems, community and criminal justice advocacy, information about available social services, referrals to community agencies and programs, and NY State Office of Victim Services compensation claims assistance. The program also provides trainings for seniors, professionals and community groups on elder abuse, prevention and safety issues.
