This year for WEAAD, the New York City Elder Abuse Center (NYCEAC) will be sharing resources for elder justice professionals daily for 16 days, in a campaign called 16 for 2016 – which you can find on Twitter at #16for2016 or on our Facebook page starting on May 31, 2016. More →
The NYC Elder Abuse Center (NYCEAC) actively engages key decision makers in discussions about elder abuse and neglect to:
- educate them about the complexities and prevalence of this problem; and
- inform them of vital NYC elder justice-related programs, including the work of NYCEAC.
To this end, NYCEAC, in partnership with the Council of Senior Centers and Services (CSCS) and the Geriatric Mental Health Alliance of NY (GMHA), initiated the Leadership Education Project (LEP) to further these goals. The aims of this project are to:
- identify key NYS/NYC decision-makers who should be informed about elder abuse issues and NYCEAC’s work; and
- develop and implement an action plan for engaging them on these issues.
We will share the results of this important project on this website, so please check here for that information in the Spring 2012.
